Then There Was Four!

2 min read

The Green Bay Packers along with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, and lastly the San Francisco 49ers have made it to the final hurdle before the biggest day in sports history, Superbowl 54.

In some of the league’s most nail bitting games of the 100th season of the NFL, the Divisional Round made for some of the most compelling and remarkable upsets we’ve seen in this league. First things first the number 6 seed Tennessee managed to surpass QB Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens who were tipped to be the leagues champions. Let’s not forget only just a week ago the Titans stunned Tom Brady and the world with a win in New England against the current NFL champions the Patriots during their Wild card match. And now again the Titans manage an even bigger upset against the Ravens.

That wasn’t the only shock around the league over the Divisional Round games. The Chiefs had a disastrous start at the beginning of their match against the Texans, with a blocked punt, turnovers and a near 3 touchdown deficit in the first quarter. However, QB Patrick Mahomes managed to overcome it in the second half scoring a historic 51 points. The largest comeback made in any NFL Playoff Divisional game ever.

The Vikings were slammed in California against the number 1 seeded 49ers in a match of the Quarterbacks. QB Curt Cousins was unable to muster up another upset like Minnesota’s previous upset against the New Orleans Saints at the Super Dome. The 49ers won against the 6 seeded Vikings with a score of 27 to 10.

The last match of the weekend fell on QB Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to climb another hill as the almost forgotten team in the press against the Seattle Seahawks at home Lambeau Field. The Seattle Seahawks managed to come back quite quickly in the second half after Green Bay managed an early lead at the beginning of the game. In freezing cold temperature the Packers managed to hold them off with one magnificent play made by TE Jimmy Graham which the critics are calling short, but the officials who know the game inside and out disagreed and gave the Pack a final first down that would seal the match with a Green Bay win.

Now the stage is set for two massive games this weekend. The two Super Bowl teams will be decided, and dreams will either be dashed or made. One thing is clear these Championships are going to be huge.

The NFC & AFC Championship Title games begin this upcoming weekend both airing in the USA on Sunday January 19th. The AFC game between the Titans and Chiefs will air first and then bringing up the rear will be the NFC game featuring the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers. This is the final hurdle before Superbowl 54.
