Serena Williams Falls Short Yet Again at U.S Open Final
2 min readSerena Williams one of the greatest tennis player of all-time fall just shy of winning what would’ve been her 24th grand slam title. She now has to wait yet again to tie Margaret Smith Court for the most, Grand Slam titles of all-time.
Williams fought hard with her good friend the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and sister Venus cheering in the crowds. Serena began her match already on the back foot having her first serve broken. Williams fought hard throughout the first set but it wasn’t enough and it went to Canadian teen Bianca Andreescu.
The second set started worst for Serena when she was down 4 to 1, however Williams fought even harder to come back to make the second set 7 to 5. Williams left the court shattered along with the fans, but she was all class in congratulating Bianca.
This stunning upset by Canada’s first ever Grand Slam winner came at an amazing time for Andreescu. This was her first ever appearance in a Tennis final, and the nerves clearly didn’t show. It is an incredible achievement and the teen is going to soak up every bit of it.
Now Serena is going to regroup and look forward to the Australian Open in January for that 24th win. But one thing is for sure, she still has a lot of fight left to go. She is one of the greats of the sport, and always will be. This is the athletes fourth finals loss, but other famous tennis player have had dry spots as well.
