Week 4 of the Pre-Season marks the end of practice and sets the ball in motion for the beginning of every team to put all that hard-fought practice to the ultimate test.
Even in the last week of pre-season fears mounted for the Packers, so head coach LaFleur decided to keep Rodgers off the field as well. Which means all of us sports analysts still have no idea what to expect in the season opener against the Chicago Bears when it comes to the full starting roster.
Both the starting Quarterback for the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes and Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers just looked on from the sidelines watching their backups play in their place.
The most important play of the game came in the fourth quarter over a dead ball. Running back Dexter Williams managed to score the deciding touchdown in the fourth quarter as well with 6:24 left of play.
Mahomes backup Kyle Shurmur had a good run going 14 for 20 with 143 yards in the air, including a touchdown. Packers backup QB Tim Boyle managed a touchdown score and went 3 for 6.
After that DeShone Kizer Green Bay’s second backup QB had a lack luster start throwing an interception to Chiefs safety Jordan Lucas. This gave the Chiefs possession on the Green Bay 7-yard lines which prompted for an easy score.
The game could have gone all wrong for the Packers then, but the Pack managed to score again and win with the score 27 to 20. The Packers now finish the pre-season with a 2-2 record, but this doesn’t hold too much weight for their overall Superbowl dreams. Now fans can look forward to the surprise starting roster taking to the field in the 100th season opener against the Chicago Bears. Head coach LaFleur hasn’t given anything away which allows the Pack that extra element of surprise.
But until then the Packers can leave the field happy with this satisfying win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
