NRL Dreams Shattered Over the Weekend for Parramatta

The Eelsgot absolutely battered over the weekend in a do or die final match against the infamous Melbourne Storm. Parramatta went in with high hopes and big dreams, but sadly fell short to the sheer force of the Melbourne Storms offence and power.

The Eels lost 32 to 0 and matched with their history in footy finals made a horrific night for both captain Clint Gutherson and head coach Brad Arthur. This along with the clubs over 30-year drought was a hard pill to swallow for the supporters and players.

Saturdays game started out slow for the Eels and truly never picked up steam from there, the Eels never had their feet on the gas and were on the backfoot from opening kick-off. The Eels did have a small glimmer of hope when the league’s highest scoring player Cameron Smith got sin binned from the game right before the end of the first half. Smith slapped the Parramatta hooker Reed Mahoney twice and that was enough for an automatic rejection.

Even with that huge advantage it still wasn’t enough for the Eels to come back and score any points. The Melbourne Storm managed to maintain possession of the ball almost 70% of the game, so it looks like the Eels will have to wait another year to break that premiership drought

Now with this win the Melbourne Storm head up to Sydney for a battle against the Roosters. This match will determine who heads to the NRL Premiership Final and who will leave empty handed, it is sure to be one cracking showdown.

The match will be held on Saturday September 28that 7:50pm on the Sydney Cricket Ground. What major city will come out on top?
