Andrew Luck No1 Draft Pick of 2012 Retires?

One of the greatest Quarterbacks to hit the field Andrew Luck has decided to retire after a long successful career, at the very young age of 29. The Indianapolis Colt has been scarred with injury for quite a long time now.

Luck missed a total of nine games in 2015 and the entire 2017 season because of a persistent ankle injury that he just couldn’t shake. When asked by reporters Luck had this to say, “I haven’t been able to live the life I want to live.” Luck said as he fought off tears, “It’s taken the joy out of this game. The only way forward for me is to remove myself from football and this cycle I’ve been in.”

Luck became an instant star in 2012 as the colts Number 1 draft pick. He made a great replacement for another superstar Peyton Manning who was a franchise icon. Manning left the team, because of recurring injury as well.

Over his career Luck has played a total of 86 regular games and has an overall record of 53-33. He has completed over 170 touchdowns which is only behind Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, and Brett Favre of the Packer and Minnesota Vikings.

In only his third season Luck led the Colts to an AFC Championship where they faced the New England Patriots. Sadly, they lost this match, but making it this far was still a massive achievement.

Andrew Luck still has a full three-year contract with the Colts, which is worth $64 million dollars. Now the question is what is the team going to do? Andrew Luck is the youngest QB to retire. Andrew had this to say in the end, “It felt like a weight has lifted.” he said, “Part of my journey going forward is to figure out how to get out of pain.”

The entire NFL community has shown mixed emotion, some supporting his bravery and courage to put himself first, and others mocking and shaming him. One thing is for certain he is one of the greats and always will be. It is truly sad to see him go, and that goes for any NFL fan.
